Polypropylene Beads

515 Polypropylene Beads are a lightweight, soft polymer texture additive for acrylic sealers and resinous coatings. Mixed in, they leave a mild to medium texture that adds grip on a wet surface and feels smooth or lightly textured underfoot.

Where it works best

Offices, retail stores, light-duty residential areas, and low-traffic outdoor walkways, where barefoot comfort and easy cleaning matter.

What it does well

• Easy to clean and mop
• Low-profile texture
• Little effect on the floor’s gloss

Where to use something else

Polypropylene is a softer polymer, so it wears down faster under heavy abuse. For heavy industrial equipment, harsh chemicals, or high-abrasion areas, use aluminum oxide instead.

Choose the mesh for the texture

Mesh numbers describe the screen sizes the beads are sorted through, and higher numbers are finer.

• 60/80: a tighter size range, which gives a more uniform, slightly more noticeable texture.
• 60/100: a wider range that includes finer particles, which gives a finer, smoother feel.

Good to know

• Gloss changes little, but any additive shows more the more you use.
• Stir the coating regularly while you apply so the beads stay evenly distributed.
• Test a small area first to confirm the texture and cleanability before doing the full surface.
